It’s All About Balance
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about balance. Between our roles as mothers, business women, partners and beyond, things can get messy when everyone wants a piece. We’ve only got so much to give, but as moms I know we tend to give more than we have, leaving little for ourselves. Am I right? This also seems to be where the guilt comes creeping in — the guilt that takes over when we’ve stretched ourselves too thin. It can also take over if we feel like we’re taking more time than we should on our jobs, our careers, or our entrepreneurial endeavors. How much is too much?
I’m digging back a few years to share this video which has really stuck with me since first watching it. It’s all about finding balance between work and motherhood.
So, what do you think mamas? Does guilt have to be a part of the WAHM’s world? Is it a part of yours? How do you combat it? What is your advice for other mamas?

I struggle with this every day. Each day is different. I do have guilt when I know I’ve worked too much. I am trying harder, but I am nowhere near perfect.
Great post.

I think that’s the best way to go about it — we’ve all got to try, but it’s not a science! We’ve just got to find what works best for US and our FAMILIES!

Thank you! Balance as a working mom is so important yet so hard to achieve. I am learning to be comfortable with imperfection and accepting the best I can do at the time. I would rather sit and read and play with my kids and if the laundry doesn’t get put away not to stress. It may mean it sits in a basket for a day or two…but is that what my kids will remember? Or will they remember the time I spent reading and playing with them? My mom told me once that “you can have everything you want but maybe not always at the same time”. I also believe that the quality of time with your kids is important and not focusing on just the quantity of time. Nice to know that this balance and guilt thing is shared by many working mom’s. Many thanks for sharing!

Finding balance is definitely a task! I don’t usually feel guilty, but I do get a little overwhelmed and anxious when being pulled in some many directions. I try to not work while my children are at home. That doesn’t always work, but overall it’s has helped a lot. And I’ve been doing something specific for the children on a regular basis outside of our normal schedule so they have my full attention without texts, tweets, posts, hopping, paid posts… Whew!
