Wonderful Wonderbar Donates a Portion of Sales to Haiti

As I sat in my comfortable office yesterday and watched the horrible images and heard the stories of devastation the 7.0 earthquake has left on Haiti I wanted to help. But how; send money, donate clothes, give water and food? Then I heard about the work Doctors Without Borders is doing.

Already stationed in Haiti for natural disaster, social violence and healthcare exclusion relief, Doctors Without Borders was able to hit the ground running to help those in the direst straights. I made a personal donation immediately. I also decided that I will donate a portion of every sale I make from my business and I urge you to do the same.

As of this morning, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières has treated more than 1,500 patients. The primary concern at the moment is the overwhelming numbers of people who need immediate treatment and major surgery with lack of hospitals, supplies and equipment. The Doctors Without Borders website has information on how you can help support them and their work in Haiti. From a button on your blog to a message on Facebook and Twitter, we can make an impact.

More About Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

MSF’s work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics and impartiality. The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people caught in crisis regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.

MSF operates independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. Medical teams conduct evaluations on the ground to determine a population’s medical needs before opening programs. The key to MSF’s ability to act independently in response to a crisis is its independent funding. Eighty-nine percent of MSF’s overall funding (and 100 percent of MSF-USA’s funding) comes from private sources, not governments.
